buds by Shangri-La Singapore: A Play Paradise Worth Exploring with Your Little Ones
Finding a play space that truly caters to children of different ages while offering meaningful experiences can be a challenge. Tucked away in the heart of Orchard Road, buds by Shangri-La Singapore does exactly that!

HER Voice
As the first hotel in Singapore to design and build an interactive play space for children, buds was originally created exclusively for hotel guests and annual members. Today, families from all over Singapore can enjoy this thoughtfully curated indoor playground, making it a fantastic destination for playdates, family outings, and school holiday adventures.
Recently, we planned a family day out and brought our energetic three-year-old, Asher, for a visit. The moment we stepped through the doors, we understood why so many families rave about this hidden gem. Bright, inviting, and designed entirely with children in mind, buds instantly sparks curiosity and excitement from every corner.

Play zone for all age
Toddler Play Zone
One of the things we appreciated most about buds is how intentionally the space has been designed to cater to different developmental stages.

For younger children, the Toddler Zone provides a safe and engaging environment filled with age-appropriate activities. The area features mini slides, a colourful ball pit, ride-on vehicles, and even an adorable toddler swing that little ones will adore.
As a parent, I especially loved the thoughtful use of print-rich signage throughout the space. The playful use of lowercase lettering subtly reinforces early literacy awareness while children play and explore.
This cosy area allows infants and toddlers to move freely, build confidence, and develop gross motor skills in a secure environment.
Explorer Zone
For older and more adventurous children, the Explorer Zone is where the real excitement begins.
The expansive play structure is packed with giant slides, rope climbing nets, obstacle courses, mesh tunnels, and interactive play elements that encourage active exploration. It quickly became Asher's favourite area, and he spent much of our visit climbing, sliding, and racing through the various challenges.
From launching soft balls through the cannon stations to navigating the rope nets and mesh caves, every corner offers a new adventure. The impressive rocket-themed slide and cascading ball play features add even more excitement to the experience.
The entire space strikes a wonderful balance between fun, challenge, and safety, allowing children to test their limits while parents watch with peace of mind.

Discovering Creativity Through Music and Art
Beyond physical play, buds also offers dedicated spaces that nurture creativity and self-expression.
Symphony Room
One of the standout areas is the Symphony Room, a vibrant music space designed to spark children's curiosity about sound and rhythm. Featuring a giant floor piano, percussion walls, and hands-on musical instruments, the room encourages little ones to experiment, create, and explore music through play.
buds also runs its signature Symphony Buds programme every Wednesday at 9:30am and 2:00pm. Designed for children aged 2 to 6 years old, the programme includes a 45-minute music session followed by one hour of playtime in buds.
Although we didn't manage to join the session during this visit, it is definitely on our list for next time.

Muddy Room
Another highlight was the Muddy Room, a dedicated creative studio where budding artists can paint, draw, and create freely. The space is beautifully organised, complete with art supplies, child-sized washing stations, and aprons for messy play. Asher has recently developed an interest in art classes, so this became the perfect opportunity for him to express his creativity after an energetic morning of physical play. The thoughtful setup makes it easy for children to explore art independently while encouraging imagination and sensory learning.
What stood out most to me was how buds seamlessly combines high-energy activities with calm, focused experiences. Children can transition naturally between active play and quieter creative pursuits based on their interests and energy levels.

Our Final Verdict
Our visit to buds by Shangri-La Singapore was an absolute delight from start to finish. More than just an indoor playground, buds creates an environment where children can move, explore, imagine, create, and learn, all within one beautifully designed space. Watching Asher confidently navigate the play structures, immerse himself in art, and discover new experiences made the day especially memorable.
Whether you're planning a family outing, looking for an enriching play environment, or simply searching for somewhere new to explore with your little ones, buds by Shangri-La Singapore is well worth adding to your list. We are already looking forward to our next visit and perhaps trying out the Symphony Buds programme next time.
